Inspection Services

Our preblast and preconstruction inspections are designed to document the existing conditions of nearby structures and terrain surrounding a blast or construction site. We provide high-definition video and/or photos before any project begins. These inspections are crucial for establishing a baseline that can be used to demonstrate that your activities did not cause damage.

Why are Preblast and Preconstruction Inspections Important?

Preblast and preconstruction inspections create a record of preexisting conditions of structures and areas surrounding a job site. This serves as an invaluable tool should concerns arise. Equally important is the positive public relations link Sauls provides between the project and the community. In many cases, the Sauls employee is the first contact the public has regarding a job.

Extra care must be incorporated when interacting with the public during all phases of the project. Our inspectors have years of experience interacting with the public and discussing blasting or heavy construction operations. With each interaction, we engage property owners with the understanding of a person’s sensitivity to even the slightest ground vibration. Sauls has found that the project benefits when adequately addressing a citizen’s concerns in a professional manner.

How Do Inspections Work?

Sauls uses high-definition audio and visual equipment to record existing conditions of structures surrounding the project site. Trained and experienced inspectors visit homeowners and businesses to make the initial contact of blasting or construction notification. They explain the inspection process and obtain necessary access to identified structures. Once an inspection is scheduled, we record existing conditions using state-of-the-art digital equipment. Every visible surface is documented and defects and/or areas of concern are photographed close-up and in greater detail. Driveways, sidewalks, retaining walls, out buildings, pools, wells, pump houses and more are all included in the exterior inspection. For the interior, a technician will document every accessible room including each wall, ceiling, and floor.

NOW Access SM, our secure website, stores all inspection data. You will have the ability to view inspection contacts and completion progress as the project advances, in addition to accessing completed inspection reports at your convenience. Learn more about NOW Access SM.

We also provide right-of-way video. This service gives audio-visual documentation of the area surrounding your job site. It shows existing conditions of roads, power lines, culverts, mailboxes, sidewalks, intersections, traffic flow, street corners and other concerns.
